Women’s Legal Service helping 700% more women
Published on 24 April 2017
Last year Women’s Legal Service Queensland provided phone advice to 1,557 women located throughout Queensland.
Thanks to the $5,000 grant they won in 2015, the new Women’s Legal Service Helpline was established and has been up and running since 7 January 2016.
In the first nine weeks of operation, the helpline has already exceeded the total number of calls answered in 2015- with a total of 1607 calls answered (as at 9 March). This equals a 700% increase in assistance.
Natalie Davidson from Women’s Legal Service Queensland said, “On behalf of our Helpline workers, Annabelle and Danielle as well as the Management Committee and staff of Women’s Legal Service, thank you. We could not achieve such a significant result for vulnerable Queensland women and their children without you.”
