Surfing NSW’s Indigenous Surfing Program promotes health, enjoyment and wellbeing through the sport of surfing and ocean safety awareness, bringing positive education to remote and local Indigenous communities.
Surfing NSW is aware of the benefits of surfing to indigenous children. As a result, some years ago it introduced the Indigenous Surfing Program to promote indigenous children’s health and activity. The program was incredibly popular and successful. Participants were taught skills such as environmental awareness, basic fitness and paddling. Sadly, due to lack funding Surfing NSW is no longer able to offer the Indigenous Surfing Program and it is their dream to get the program up and running again.
Surfing NSW’s Indigenous Surfing Program currently operates in New South Wales.
The funding would allow Surfing NSW to be able to provide free surfing lessons for indigenous children from around the state.
